Translations of the AIDSspace Principles:

AIDSspace Principles

AIDSspace’s mission is to help people communicate more easily and share experiences, information and knowledge about AIDS. The following principles serve as the foundation for the AIDSspace Terms of Use that members and visitors must adhere to.

An open space: Individuals should have the freedom to build networks and exchange information through AIDSspace for a more inclusive global AIDS response. Individuals will have access to AIDSspace as long as they do not violate the Terms of Use.

A respectful space: AIDSspace is built on the premise that individuals will engage on the site in a respectful and non-discriminatory manner. Actions that are contrary to this principle will not be accepted.

A diverse space: The global AIDS community is diverse and the epidemic transcends cultural, geographic, economic, social and political boundaries. AIDSspace encourages the participation of all engaged in the response

Privacy Policy:

AIDSspace is committed to protecting your privacy on the platform. This policy informs you of how your personal information is used.

Your Personal Information
By signing up for AIDSspace, you are granting specific permission to AIDSspace to use and distribute information covered by intellectual property rights, whereby AIDSspace is granted a license by you, the user, to use posted photographs, videos or similar materials, subject to your privacy settings. This non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license will automatically end when you terminate your account with AIDSspace, unless you have shared your content with others, and they have not deleted it.

If you choose, AIDSspace will occasionally send you updates by e-mail. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from the AIDSspace email list, you may do so by going to http://www.aidsspace.org/unsubscribe.php

AIDSspace does not share the information you’ve provided with unaffiliated groups for commercial purposes without your explicit permission. Some of your personal information may be shared with affiliated third parties – for example, database administrators – for the sole purpose of making AIDSspace more efficient. These groups do not share your personal information or use it for any purpose other than as instructed by AIDSspace.

When you give AIDSspace personal information, steps are taken to ensure that your information is treated securely. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while many efforts are taken to protect your personal information, AIDSspace cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit, and you do so at your own risk.

Like many websites, when you enter AIDSspace your browser type, IP address and header information are collected. This information is gathered for all AIDSspace users.

Under circumstances where AIDSspace determines that members may be misusing the platform for malicious purposes, such incidents may be reported to law enforcement agencies. In such cases, AIDSspace may release personally identifiable information, including name and address, to those agencies.

Please review this privacy policy periodically as it is a living document and will evolve as the platform develops. This policy was last revised on 20 October 2009. Each time you visit AIDSspace or provide information through AIDSspace, you accept the platform’s Terms of Use.

This privacy policy applies to all activities in which you engage with on AIDSspace. It does not apply to other web sites AIDSspace may be linked to.

Customized Personal Profile Sharing
AIDSspace users are responsible for altering and customizing their own privacy settings. Users have the option of sharing their profile information with everyone on AIDSspace, just friends, or friends of friends.

Sending Emails Via AIDSspace
In certain cases, AIDSspace enables you to send individual e-mails through the platform. These messages are sent in your name, with your e-mail address as the return address and your full name and contact information is provided as part of the submission. These messages will only be sent out under your name as you approve them on an individual basis using the AIDSspace email tool. You are solely responsible for the specific message(s) you send using this tool.

Data Storage

By using AIDSspace, you consent to having your personal information transferred and processed by AIDSspace’s web hosting company located in the United States of America. If you decide to delete your account, account information will remain in the database, but inactive so that it does not come up in searches, and does not have login capabilities. This is to prevent the disappearance of existing content that is valuable to other users.

Cookies

Some parts of AIDSspace are password-protected. A cookie (cookies reside on your computer and are under the control of your browser) will be used to enable you to return to password-protected areas of the platform without having to re-enter your password. If you wish to disable these cookies and this convenience feature, the help instructions on most browsers will tell you how do that. If you set your browser to disable cookies, however, you may not be able to access certain parts of AIDSspace.

Data Tracking

In order to better serve its users, AIDSspace utilizes cookies and periodically analyzes web logs. IP addresses may be collected to better understand where traffic is coming from and to provide customized services to users. Third-party services such as Google Analytics may also be used to help understand traffic patterns and if there are problems with AIDSspace.

URLs contained in emails may contain an ID that enables AIDSspace to correctly identify the person who takes an action using a web page. Occasionally, a shortened URL that references a longer one contains an id—this is done to simplify the display, to prevent links from becoming broken when copied, and to ensure compatibility with email programs that do not handle long URLs. When a shortened URL is displayed in an email, you will see the full URL in the browser's address bar when you access the page.

Links to Other Websites

AIDSspace may provide links to third-party web sites, and other web sites may provide links to AIDSspace. Third-party web sites operate according to their own terms of use and privacy policies. AIDSspace has no control over such third party web sites and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such sites. You further acknowledge and agree that AIDSspace will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites.

Changes to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

AIDSspace may revise or amend this policy at any time at its discretion. If any substantive change(s) in the way personally-identifying information is collected, an announcement will be posted on AIDSspace, together with a description of the change(s) and a new effective date, which will give users a minimum of seven (7) days notice. AIDSspace encourages users to visit this page periodically to review the current policy.

Marketplace Policy

AIDSspace’s Marketplace provides a space for members to access services, find and post jobs, consultancies, requests for proposals, grants, reviews on service providers, and other kinds of information and services in support of the global AIDS response.

AIDSspace provides a platform for the exchange of service related content but is not directly involved in any transaction in the Marketplace. These processes are based on the knowledge submitted by the person(s) or party providing content. AIDSspace does not have knowledge of, nor control over the safety, legality, quality, accuracy, cost, effectiveness or truth of the information submitted and communicated through the Marketplace. As such, AIDSspace cannot take responsibility for any mistakes, errors or omissions within the information communicated.

AIDSspace does not charge any fee for posting within the Marketplace. AIDSspace reserves the right to change this policy at any time. An announcement will be posted on AIDSspace, together with a description of the change(s) and a new effective date. Users are encouraged to visit this page periodically to review the current policy.

Disputes

You will resolve any claim, cause of action or dispute you have, relating to these terms and conditions in a state or federal court located in the city and county of San Francisco, California, United States of America. The laws of the State of California will govern this Statement, as well as any claim that might arise between you and AIDSspace. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in San Francisco County, California for the purpose of litigating all such claims.
