| Description: | In this group, members will discuss how to stimulate local responses to HIV, by appreciating strengths and fostering local ownership. AIDS Competence is the capacity of a community - where people share a purpose, such as living, working, praying, playing together - to respond to HIV. The basic tenet of AIDS Competence is that people are the principal actors of their own change. However, people’s capacity to address HIV needs to be revealed and nurtured. The AIDS Competence Process is a community-driven, strength-based approach to foster ownership of the HIV challenge by the people themselves.
