I. Mobilise regional leadership and partnerships to support country level action on HIV in West and Central Africa:
1. Facilitate and provide financial and technical support to intergovernmental continental (African Union, ADB) and regional (ECOWAS, ECCAS, OCEAC, WAHO).
2. Support coordination of donor-related and private sector activities at regional level, including brokering of capacity-building initiatives for sustained results.
3. Identify and develop strategic partnership with other partners and explore opportunities for advocacy and programming support.
4. Guide and facilitate UNAIDS Country partnerships advisors on partnership work
5. Lead the regional office partnerships unit including programming, budgeting, implementation and monitoring (since office restructuring in 2008)

II. Provide leadership and coordinate Regional Team support to UNAIDS Country offices in a cluster of countries
1. Support the UNAIDS Country office in the establishment of UN Country Teams and the development of UN common programmes on HIV, the review of the HIV/AIDS components of Common Country Assessment (CCA) and United Nations Developmental Assistance Framework (UNDAF)
2. Facilitate access to Programme Accelerated Funds (PAF) and technical support.
3. Facilitate/provide support to Strategic Planning and Review Exercises and the Monitoring and Evaluation framework (Three ones), harmonisation and alignment and mainstreaming efforts.
4. Support country office to keep universal access on HIV on the national agenda and monitor progress.
